VETERANS
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reports that more than 131,000 men and women who served their country are homeless on any given night.
Estimates suggest that double that number are homeless sometime during the year. One out of three homeless adults is a veteran, though they comprise only 11 percent of the general population.
The Coalition responds to the unique needs of homeless veterans through its permanent supportive housing programs at our housing developments Civic Center Apartments and Beacon Place. This past Veterans Day, the Coalition announced a new Homeless Veterans Housing Fund.
In 2008, the Coalition worked with 946 veterans, and housed 251 of these individuals.
