Veteran Services
Program Overview
Veterans are overrepresented among the homeless population. It is estimated that veterans represent nine percent of the total homeless population. Homeless veterans tend to be male (91 percent), single (98 percent), live in a city (76 percent), and have a mental and/or physical disability (54 percent).
The Coalition responds to the unique needs of homeless veterans through its Veterans Administration Grant Per Diem Programs and the Coalition’s housing programs at Renaissance at Civic Center Apartments, Renaissance at North Colorado Station, Victory House, and Beacon Place. This program provides transitional housing with supportive case management.
The Coalition provides transitional housing and recovery-oriented supportive services for homeless individuals, especially homeless veterans, at the Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community. This innovative program allows homeless persons to leave the community in which they continue to struggle with the cycles of addiction and homelessness in order to help them attain sobriety and health stability. The Coalition also provides employment services for veterans through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. Our Renaissance Works Employment Services program helps individuals assess their skills, develops individual employment plans and resumes, and provides job interview coaching. In 2015, the Coalition provided housing, health care, and support services to 851 veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
