Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Receives $100,000 Grant from Wells Fargo Foundation
Denver, CO – The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless announced today that the Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to support lasting solutions to homelessness. This grant assists the Coalition’s Family Support Services department, which provides integrated programs to support children and families, including the specialized services of the Renaissance Children’s Center.
The Renaissance Children’s Center is one of only a few early childhood education centers specializing in the developmental and educational needs of children recovering from homelessness. Children from infancy through age 12 are enrolled and enter the center through referral from the Coalition’s Family Support Services as part of broader assistance to families experiencing homelessness. Renaissance Children’s Center staff take a trauma-informed approach to help children overcome the disruption that homelessness causes in their healthy development, focusing on basic social skills and developmental milestones. The Children's Center also provides parenting education and other support to promote family healing and resilience.
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, founded in 1984, is dedicated to creating lasting solutions to homelessness through health care, housing and support services. Last year, the Coalition served 18,032 individuals experiencing homelessness including 1,159 families with children, 108 children at the Renaissance Children’s Center and 230 children receiving comprehensive health screenings through the annual Healthy Kids Fair.
“We applaud Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Foundation for their ongoing commitment to supporting and strengthening our communities," says John Parvensky, President and CEO of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. "This grant is one of several ways that Wells Fargo and its team members support lasting solutions to homelessness. Through charitable grants, social impact investing, and a strong business partnership with the Coalition, Wells Fargo is making a significant impact in improving quality of life throughout metro Denver and Colorado.”
The Wells Fargo Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process.
“Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is a recognized leader in providing integrated services and sustainable solutions to combat homelessness throughout the state of Colorado,” said Wells Fargo Vice President of Community Development María Sepúlveda. “Wells Fargo is committed to helping build stronger communities, and this grant will help Colorado Coalition for the Homeless assist families and children who have been traumatized by homelessness by providing stable housing, child development services, family counseling and employment services. We are proud to support the Coalition in its efforts to help children and families break the cycle of inter-generational poverty and homelessness.”
